Peace Corps Group 30 Morning Songs
Every day for two months Peace Corps Group 30 came together for language and cross cultural training. Each morning we began with songs. For your listening entertainment I have recorded a few of the songs we sang. Though we are not professional singers I hope you enjoy them. The songs are a mish-mash of tunes from other African Countries but a few are Namibian in origin. Unfortunately, even the language trainers and staff don't know what all the songs mean or even what language some of them are in but they were still fun to sing. For the few songs that I do know about information has been given below.
Ntate ntekele siana (Siana Marena), became our Group 30 anthem and is a song about a wedding blanket.-
Tula Pele, is actually a lullaby and the words are simple and to the point. (PC Group 30 Trainers)Tula, Tula Tula Pele, Sleep Sleep, Sleep Baby (Though I have my doubts on how well this would actually work considering we were singing quite loudly).-
Jesus het my mooi gemaak is sung in Afrikaans and English so no translation is needed for this one.-
Jeng Jeng Jeng-
Nhlonolofatsa-
Mweya Po (Peace Corps Group 30 Language Trainers)-
Tumelo -
Kynea -
Ruri-
Tate gwetu-
All of the songs were recorded by myself at the Andreas Kikuri Conference Center in Okahandja, Namibia. Unless otherwise noted the singing was done by both the staff and volunteers together.

Brad these are amazing! I’m blogging about you right now! The harmonies and arrangements sound very similar to South African songs I’ve heard, which makes sense. Thank you for posting! You’re right, the sound quality is excellent.
